Puttin Together an Emergency Prom Dress Kit

So you want to put together an emergency prom dresses kit. Let’s face it—at formal dances, all kinds of dresses are introduced to the elements. It doesn’t matter if they’re short dresses, prom dresses, formal dresses, cocktail dresses—they all have a chance of being ruined. The question is—how do you put together an emergency prom dress kit so that you don’t accidentally end up ruining your dress or end up having to leave due to an issue?

First of all, you want to have an idea of what could occur. Don’t think alien space invasion type of things that could occur, but rather “I could have juice spilled on me.” or “I might step on my hem and rip my dress.” These are both very valid accidents and are very likely to happen. In this case, you should carry something that will help to aid both with repairs or the removal of stains.

You also need to keep in mind the fabric of your prom dress, before you ever create your kit. The reason for this is that you may consider using a certain type of cleaner only to discover that it ruins that type of fabric. Good thing that you knew before, huh? The same goes for repair materials.

Tips for Matching Your Prom Dress

Say that you aren’t so great at matching—and you have the job of matching your accessories to your prom dresses. Instead of panicking, you can do a few things in order to match and look absolutely amazing on your prom night. The question is—when it comes to cocktail dresses, formal dresses, and prom dresses, how on earth do you get every thing to match and look coordinated?

First of all, when it comes to color, try to stick to analogous colors or compliments—even with short dresses. Make sure that your dress sets the mood as far as color goes and that your shoes follow this rule. However, your accessories can be as varied as you would like. Keep this in mind as you search for accessories. Try to make sure that they do match some sort of color scheme, but they aren’t quite as strictly controlled as your shoes.

Your purse or clutch can also be a variety of colors, but it’s generally best to go with a shade similar to your dress or perhaps black or white or another neutral color. Try and make sure that if you do choose to match your clothing and accessories that you don’t take it too far. For example, if you have ten shades of pink, you may want to throw in a piece or two that is a neutral shade and leave it at that.

What to Expect When You Go Prom Dress Shopping with Your Boyfriend

So you've commissioned your boyfriend to go prom dress shopping with you, but you aren't entirely sure what it will be like once you get there. So the question is—what exactly will it be like to go prom dresses shopping with your boyfriend?

First of all, you need to understand that if you were a guy, you probably wouldn't like shopping. It's kind of boring, sales are overrated...this is what most guys (although there are exceptions!) think when they have to go shopping. Do not be surprised if your boyfriend is a tiny bit bored. However, take this opportunity to spend a bit of quality time with him. Try to get his opinion. Ask him to pick out a few dresses that he really, really wants to see you in. Ask him what color HE would like to wear to the prom, maybe he was hoping to see you in a blue dress this year... give it a shot! This will peak his interest and also make him curious as to what the dress will look like on you!

Most of all, do not get angry if he doesn't show an overwhelming amount of interest in the dresses that you choose. Chances are that you wouldn't like helping him pick out a video game. However, you would probably still go with him, right? The same theory applies to your boyfriend when he goes shopping for cocktail dresses with you. Keep this in mind as you shop for your dresses.

What Bra to Wear Under a Prom Dress

So you finally get a chance to buy prom dresses and you get a really cute one. In fact, it's absolutely adorable. However, you aren't sure about one thing—what bra to wear underneath of your prom dresses! After all, you don't want to wear the wrong bra because it might cause you to end up having an incident, but at the same time, you need to make sure that you have one on so that the dress doesn't wear wrong on you and you find that you have issues with the dress anyways. The question is—which bra goes where?

First of all, you need to choose a bra that goes good with your prom dresses. For example, if you have a strapless gown, then you will need a strapless bra to go with it. Make sure that you get a bra that fits you too—don't choose one that is too small or too large just because you can't find your cup size. Keep trying until you do finally find it.

If you have a dress that does not have a low back or you have a dress that has long sleeves or short sleeves, chances are that you can get away with your regular old bras. If you really want, you can choose to even wear a push-up bra!
