Tips for Matching Your Prom Dress

Say that you aren’t so great at matching—and you have the job of matching your accessories to your prom dresses. Instead of panicking, you can do a few things in order to match and look absolutely amazing on your prom night. The question is—when it comes to cocktail dresses, formal dresses, and prom dresses, how on earth do you get every thing to match and look coordinated?

First of all, when it comes to color, try to stick to analogous colors or compliments—even with short dresses. Make sure that your dress sets the mood as far as color goes and that your shoes follow this rule. However, your accessories can be as varied as you would like. Keep this in mind as you search for accessories. Try to make sure that they do match some sort of color scheme, but they aren’t quite as strictly controlled as your shoes.

Your purse or clutch can also be a variety of colors, but it’s generally best to go with a shade similar to your dress or perhaps black or white or another neutral color. Try and make sure that if you do choose to match your clothing and accessories that you don’t take it too far. For example, if you have ten shades of pink, you may want to throw in a piece or two that is a neutral shade and leave it at that.
