How to Assit Someone in Picking a Prom Dress

Say that your best friend just asked you to help her pick a prom dress—but you don't know the first thing about prom dresses and you aren't sure how to help. It's quite the scenario, but luckily, we have a few tips to get you started. After all, when you are asked something like this, you want to make sure that you can offer the absolute best advice possible. So what is the best advice possible.

First of all, be honest, but don't be tactless. Sure that pink dress might remind you of salmon, but you don't have to tell your friend that in that way. You could instead say that you don't care for the color and wish she would choose a different color instead. But, if you see a dress that you think looks amazing on her—tell her! Tell her what you like about it! See if you can find a few similar dresses that look equally as nice on her.

Try to keep your friend's preferences in mind as you search for a dress. You don't want to persuade her to wear something that she won't be comfortable in. She'll absolutely hate it and you'll feel bad because you helped to encourage her to get a dress she didn't like. Remember when choosing to help someone pick out formal dresses that they have the final say.
